How Much Does a Safe Deposit Box Cost in Dubai? Full 2026 Price Guide

If you have started looking into safe deposit boxes in Dubai, you have probably noticed how difficult it is to get a straight answer on price. Banks rarely publish their locker rates. Private providers quote "from" figures without saying what the full cost actually is. And almost nobody explains whether VAT is already included or about to be added on top.

This guide gives you the complete picture: every box size, every rental term, the real monthly equivalent, and exactly what is and is not included.

Every figure below already includes 5% VAT. There is nothing added at checkout.

MySafe Dubai Safe Deposit Box Prices, 2026

Box size 3-month term 6-month term 1-year term
45 mmAED 992AED 1,890AED 3,675
70 mmAED 1,260AED 2,310AED 4,515
120 mmAED 1,943AED 3,570AED 6,825
170 mmAED 2,520AED 4,830AED 9,135

All prices include 5% VAT. No registration fee. No security deposit.

Every MySafe box is wider and longer than an A4 sheet of paper. The four sizes differ in depth only, so the footprint stays the same whether you take the smallest or the largest.

The Same Prices, Broken Down Monthly

Many people find it easier to compare storage costs as a monthly figure. Here is exactly what each term works out to per month.

Box size 3-month term 6-month term 1-year term
45 mmAED 331/monthAED 315/monthAED 306/month
70 mmAED 420/monthAED 385/monthAED 376/month
120 mmAED 648/monthAED 595/monthAED 569/month
170 mmAED 840/monthAED 805/monthAED 761/month

The lowest entry point is AED 306 per month for a 45 mm box on an annual term. For context, that is less than most people in Dubai spend on a monthly gym membership or a mid-range mobile plan.

Which Rental Term Actually Saves You Money?

This is the part almost no provider will lay out plainly, so here it is.

If you intend to keep a box for a full year, the term you choose makes a real difference. These figures show what twelve months of continuous storage costs under each option.

Box size Four 3-month terms Two 6-month terms One annual term You save
45 mmAED 3,968AED 3,780AED 3,675AED 293
70 mmAED 5,040AED 4,620AED 4,515AED 525
120 mmAED 7,772AED 7,140AED 6,825AED 947
170 mmAED 10,080AED 9,660AED 9,135AED 945

Committing to a year rather than renewing quarterly saves between AED 293 and AED 947, depending on box size. On the 120 mm box that is a 12% reduction — the equivalent of getting roughly six weeks of storage at no cost.

The shorter terms exist for good reason. If you are in Dubai on a project contract, holding assets during a property transaction, or simply want to try the service before committing, a three-month term costs AED 992 and requires no long-term obligation. But if you already know the box is staying, the annual term is straightforwardly the better financial decision.

What Bank Lockers in Dubai Cost by Comparison

Several UAE banks still offer safe deposit lockers, including Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates Islamic and ADCB, though availability varies considerably by branch. Published annual rates for smaller lockers generally start around AED 1,000, with larger sizes priced higher.

On the headline number, a bank locker can look cheaper. The comparison changes once you account for what the fee actually buys.

Bank lockers are tied to branch hours. Most UAE bank branches operate Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm, with Friday closing at 1pm. From Friday afternoon through the weekend, your locker is unreachable. MySafe centres are automated and open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Bank lockers require a banking relationship. You generally need an account with that bank in good standing. MySafe requires no UAE bank account and no prior banking relationship of any kind.

Bank lockers are not automatically insured. Contents held in a UAE bank locker are not covered by any bank insurance or deposit protection scheme. If items are lost or damaged, the bank bears no liability. MySafe offers optional insurance underwritten by Lloyd's of London on an "All Risks" basis.

Bank lockers involve staff at every visit. UAE bank lockers operate on a dual-key system — your key and a guard's key, used together, with a staff member present. At MySafe, no employee ever handles your box or sees inside it.

Waiting lists are common. At branches in high-demand areas, lockers are frequently unavailable, with waits running to months. MySafe boxes can be reserved and activated the same day.

We have covered this comparison in more depth in our guide to how bank lockers compare against private safe deposit boxes.

What Is Included in the Price — and What Is Not

Included

The box itself, for the full term you select, at the branch you choose.

24/7 automated access. There is no additional charge for out-of-hours access because there are no out-of-hours. Automated retrieval runs continuously.

Four-layer security on every access. Your proximity access card, a four-digit PIN you set yourself, a biometric vein-pattern scan, and a physical key that only you hold. MySafe keeps no copy of your key — not even our own staff can open your box.

Private access pod. Your box is delivered by robotics into a sealed private pod. The doors lock behind you. Nobody observes your visit.

Online account management. Book, renew, update payment details or view invoices online without visiting a branch. Auto-renewal can be enabled so a term never lapses unintentionally.

5% VAT. Already in every figure quoted above.

Not included

Insurance. This is optional and priced separately — see the next section.

Nothing else. There is no registration fee, no security deposit, no key deposit, and no exit or closure charge.

How Much Does Safe Deposit Box Insurance Cost in Dubai?

MySafe insurance is entirely optional. It is not bundled into the rental price, and no box carries automatic cover.

If you choose to add it, coverage is available from AED 80,000 up to AED 5,000,000 on any single box, underwritten by Lloyd's of London and written on an "All Risks" basis. The premium depends on the level of cover you select, so pricing is confirmed directly with our team at booking or at any point afterwards.

One aspect worth understanding, because it differs sharply from most insurance products: you are not required to declare individual items or justify the level of cover you request. You simply state the amount of protection you want. What is inside your box remains entirely private, including from MySafe.

Which Box Size Do You Actually Need?

All four sizes share the same width and length — wider and longer than A4. Only the depth changes.

45 mm — AED 306 to AED 331/month. Suits passports, title deeds, certificates, contracts, a modest jewellery set, USB drives or a small number of coins. This is the right size for documents and a handful of valuables.

70 mm — AED 376 to AED 420/month. Our most popular size. Comfortably holds a fuller jewellery collection, several watches, small gold bars, document sets and digital backups together.

120 mm — AED 569 to AED 648/month. Suits a comprehensive jewellery collection, multiple timepieces, gold coins and smaller bars, family heirlooms and larger document archives.

170 mm — AED 761 to AED 840/month. Built for significant bullion holdings, complete collections, bulkier items and extensive archives.

If you are unsure, our team will advise before you book, based on what you plan to store. Our guide to what UAE families and professionals store in a safe deposit box may also help you decide.
